Water Leaks

After giving Sluggie a good wash down after the trip to the Lake District, noticed some water on the front floor mats. Good job the original Land Rover mats have raised edges. Apparently they can take just over a pint of water!

Started doing some research on various forums and this image which made me smile. The Land Rover Water Ingress Manual.

In fact, it turns out that leaky roofs, bulk heads, etc.. are all standard features of Land Rovers.

However, the Land Rover Water Ingress Manual does in fact turn out to be a real document, although somewhat smaller than that above.

Seems that there are two places where water is coming in.

The first appears after soaking the roof with a hose pipe and pitching the vehicle downhill. This results in water running down the inside right hand side gutter and tipping water all over the driver! After more careful targeted exposure to water from a hose pipe, managed to determine that water is getting in between the overlapping joints between the roof skins. Another job on the list to seal them up.

The second is that water appears to be coming through either the front vents or bulk head. This seems to occur when saturating the front of the vehicle with the hose. More investigation required.

In both cases, need some more time in good, dry and warm weather to deal with these problems. Although they will have to be resolved before refitting the new headlining to Sluggie.
